TT: When’s the next offline MvC:I tournament? He showed me a lot of tech with Ghost Rider, like the super tag resets and all that. He’s the best one right now, he’s my training partner. Also, he’s pretty much the best Ghost Rider player out there, and I’m pretty much the second best. Taekua is all the way from NorCal, he plays Ghost Rider/Nova. J: My favorite player as of right now? I would definitely say Taekua. TT: Who’s your favorite player to watch right now? They have their own combos, strategy, tech, and all of that. In Marvel Infinite, the tag mechanic, the way you can express yourself through your gameplay and your team…a lot of the players pick the same characters and teams but play differently. You can do whatever combos, tech, resets you want. It’s pretty much like the sandbox of fighting games. You can do a lot of stuff in that game, man. I can play that game for hours, just like Marvel 3. The gameplay is super creative and super fun to play.
He’s now had the chance to interview Peter Rosas, the associate producer on the game, and find out more from behind the scenes. What about the game makes you feel like you need to do that? Recently featured in a Scotch Corner, Stu reviewed Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite and rather liked the crossover brawler.
TT: What about Marvel Infinite makes you want to keep the scene alive? This is a game that doesn’t really get love compared to Marvel 3, but you’re putting in a lot of work to make sure it gets played. Plus offline there’s no input delays and it’s, like, super fun. In-person, you meet everyone and can talk to everyone and play games. It’s way different from online because it’s just like yourself streaming matches. J: Oh yeah man! It was really nice to meet everyone in person. TT: How was it hosting an in-person side tournament at CEO compared to your online one? Was it nice having people be there and be able to talk to them?
